It means that you have trapped all of their pieces and they are unable to make the next move. It is one of two ways to Win the game of chess, and the most common of them. The other way to Win chess is to take all of their players away. This is usually more difficult, and takes much longer than getting checkmate. Whenever I play with my chess sets, I always go for getting checkmate. I like the look on their face, when they keep trying to think of how they can get out of it but they can’t. I have all of the pieces trapped by mine, or their keen is right in my crosshairs. It really depends, but victory is a very very sweet thing.
